We should all be entrepreneurial

It’s been over a year since I set out on this dark and eventful journey of starting Zilla. In the short time since I started working actively on Zilla, I have come to realize that being entrepreneurial isn’t only about starting a business- it’s a skill set that is very useful in your own life- starting a family, making friends, getting a job, etc.

If you were asked to describe the characteristics of an entrepreneur, you would probably say that they should be someone with strong leadership skills, maybe someone that is an excellent visionary, a great people person, a good salesman, and you will probably add that they should be a risk taker. I bet you agree. But should these skills only be for a select few who start businesses?

You will be selling yourself short if you do not define yourself as an entrepreneur – if you choose to accept that “entrepreneurs” are the “other” people who take risks, who think and act differently when challenges arise. I bet that throughout the course of the year, you make “entrepreneurial choices.” It may not be manifested as developing the latest app, the coolest new service, the next great business model, or building the next unicorn- Zilla.

Today, I challenge you to take your life as an entrepreneur- as an employee, sell as an entrepreneur. As a student, innovate like an entrepreneur. As a romantic partner, develop people’s skills as an entrepreneur. In doing this, we can achieve much more for ourselves and live better lives.

When you take smart risks and think innovatively about something, you are being entrepreneurial.

So update your bio today and add “Entrepreneurial” to the list of many skills you have.
