Potato
“What’s my purpose? / There has to be a reason why I didn’t come to this world as a potato
When people talk about how they currently do not work or practice what they studied at the university, I can quite relate to this. Although, their reasons might vary between not really having a passion for the course or the unavailability of jobs in our society which makes them take whatever they can — just to earn a living.
Finding your purpose might not be as easy as it sounds or some ‘aspire to inspire ‘makes us believe. After studying Quantity Surveying at the University of Lagos for 5 years, I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do with my life. I kept asking myself, Where am I headed? What’s my purpose in life? Surely, I wasn’t born to just exist!
After graduation, I found myself trying my hands on different projects, finding myself, finding things I love to do, gathering knowledge, and gaining skills while at it.
I moved from sitting in one position just thinking about what my purpose was to actually do the work- shooting my shots at various opportunities, testing the waters on unfamiliar territory. What’s the worst that could happen? I’d realize it’s not my purpose and I’ll try something else.
I have come to the realization that it’s okay not to have it all mapped out, rather work on yourself every day to be the best version of you that there could be.
So if you’re like me, hang in there, open up your heart to choices especially those that seem so obvious because there are so many opportunities that could be lying in the things you ignore if only you just paid a bit more attention.”
